Blackbird Market

What’s that? A neighborhood market stocked with artisan goods, produce, eggs and other farmstand-type items. Blackbird also offers prepared foods, including sandwiches, barbecue and fried seafood.

Who recommends it? Mike Fielding of Low Tide Brewing

Why? Maybe the more apt question is “why not?” Blackbird is beloved by Johns Islanders, and has been recommended by multiple previous Food Chain participants, but market owner Delana Hayes always has  been too busy stocking shelves and cooking up nightly specials to schedule a photo shoot — until now. They have “great salads and sandwiches, all farm-fresh,” Fielding raves. He also buys meat and seafood to cook at home.

Where is it? 1808 Bohicket Road. Blackbird is open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 843-559-0193, or search for Blackbird Market on Facebook.
